King’fish’er!
Social media is a place where people go to all lengths to become an overnight viral sensation. With the most bizarre acts to the funniest pranks, several incidents take the Internet’s attention and some of them do it for all the wrong reasons. One such incident has come to light where a man has gone viral for making a fish chug beer forcefully. While it may sound hilarious, it did not give him a funny reaction for Internet users. In fact, netizens were upset with the bizarre act and the man ended up with ‘animal cruelty’ allegations.
A video has recently gone viral featuring a man indulging in the wrongdoing with the aquatic animal and apparently enjoying the sight. While he might have aimed to make a peak comedy prank circulate on social media, tables turned on him as the Internet called it ‘not funny’. The man, still unknown, is captured carrying the fish belonging to the Rohu species in his arm. The clip shows him firmly holding the fish, which has just come out of the water and is still alive. He opens the fish’s mouth and tilts the beer bottle toward it, casually pouring beer into its mouth. The helpless fish is promoted to take sips from the drink as the man laughs it off. The fish is eventually seen flapping around in confusion, and the whole scene looks more painful and nothing funny.
The man surely isn’t aware that alcohol can be quite harmful to these aquatic animals. Exposure to alcohol affects their behavior and may even lead to potential toxicity in their bodies, affecting their swimming capacities. Higher concentrations of alcohol in their bodies may even cause sedative effects, leading to disorientation, and making the fish drink beer directly from the beer, as seen in the video, would surely result in any of these. But the man is seen enjoying the act; perhaps he thought he’d make the Internet laugh. What happened for real was actually the opposite of what he planned.
The entire act has left netizens angered as users are strongly criticizing him for animal cruelty. Several users have even reported the concern to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), the organization dealing in animal safety. They have tagged PETA in the comment section of the video probing them to take action against the man. Quite a few have tried to take the incident lightly and make some sarcastic remarks, but most of them have expressed hate and anger.
